Leading XCiTE and XPLoRE at Whithaugh Park
YCYH is a voluntary organisation that relies heavily upon the dedication of a huge team of leaders to make this ministry possible. There is an Operations Group, who along with the Trustees, oversee the organisation. However to run the holidays we rely on team ministry and we need people with a variety of gifts, abilities and experiences. If you come with us to Whithaugh we will encourage you in using these gifts, and provide plenty of opportunities to develop them.
As our work continues to grow, we need people who have:
- A clear Christian commitment
- Passion to work with children and young people, ensuring that their welfare is paramount
- Commitment to treat all children and young people as individuals and with equal concern
- An ability to work with children and young people, or a willingness to learn
- Capacity to work as part of a team under leadership and supervision
- A sense of humour
Although many of our leaders are experienced, there are plenty of opportunities for those with little or no experience to be involved, as training is provided. Direct responsibility for organising or supervising activities is only given to those with suitable gifts and the right experience.
Leaders can be any age from 19 years upwards. All leaders must be Christians and able to sign up to our basis of faith. All leaders are checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), and will be expected to agree to, and work in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy, before they can be involved.
If you would like to be considered for a leader role please complete the online enquiry form below.
If you require further information on being a leader, please don’t hesitate to contact the YCYH Office.

Basis of faith
As a Christian organisation, we hold that the following statements are the core principles on which our faith is founded.
- That all Scripture is God given and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct, and we confess the historic faith and trustworthiness of the Gospel.
- In one true and living God who exists as Father, Son & Holy Spirit, who are coequal and co-eternal.
- That God is the creator of all things and that all people are made in the image of God and to be in relationship with God.
- That Jesus Christ, Son of God, is fully human and fully God. Born of a virgin he lived a perfect life to bring the Kingdom of God near and show us how we should live.
- That all people sin and fall short of the glory of God. But that Jesus Christ died in our place so that our sins could be forgiven and to restore our relationship with God.
- That Jesus Christ rose from the dead so that those who believe in Him will not die but have eternal life.
- That we are saved only by the grace of God through personal faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
- In the person of the Holy Spirit, who makes Christ known in the world and by whose power Christ lives in us and we live in him.
- That all believers belong to the universal Church, of which Christ is the Head, and are committed by His command to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world.
Terms and Conditions
We cannot accept any booking unless accompanied by the £50 deposit. We will notify you when your booking has been accepted. On the XPLoRE holidays, activities vary in price and depending on your child’s choice there may be a small additional cost. Final information including confirmation of your child’s activities will be sent out in early June.
BALANCE OF FEES
The remaining balance of fees must be paid by Saturday 1 June 2019. Failure to pay by this due date may result in cancellation of your child’s holiday. If you cancel after this date your fees cannot be returned. Payments are welcome on a monthly basis should you wish to spread the cost.
In the event of any holiday having to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, or unforeseen circumstances arising beyond our control, we agree to return to you any fees already paid.
Specialist activities only take place under the supervision of fully qualified instructors from activity centres, which are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority. Whilst every effort will be made to have qualified staff available, we reserve the right to withdraw any activity if safety standards cannot be guaranteed. All recommended safety equipment is always worn. Participants for water based activities should be able to swim 25m in light clothing.
It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to advise us in advance of any disabilities, social or behavioural problems that their child currently has, or has recently experienced, which may affect them or other people during the holiday. We operate a behaviour policy to which all young people must agree before the start of the holidays. Part of this includes a strict no smoking policy. Under no circumstances during the holiday should any person be under the influence of alcohol or any other substance, except for medical reasons. In the event of a serious incident we reserve the right to send a child home. This will be the responsibility of the parent/carer to collect their child at their own expense. Parents/carers will also be required to pay for any deliberate and wilful damage caused by their child.
YCYH and all guests are covered for public liability. Guests are not however, insured against personal accident or injury as a result of an accident, or loss of possessions. We therefore suggest those who feel that additional insurance is necessary make their own arrangements.
We have a Safeguarding Policy which aims to promote good practice by our leaders so that children and young people can safely take part in all our programmes. All leaders are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure & Barring Service.

We cannot take responsibility for any photographs/video recordings that are put onto social networking sites by guests on the holidays.
