I've learnt that God will love us whatever the situation

Whithaugh 2005

Looking back to Whithaugh Park 2005 I really have no idea what to write. It was 'Whithaugh Park 2005', it was an awesome time; trouble is I'm too excited about 2006 to look back. Yet it's important that we do. It's important to know where we were, where we are now, and where we want to be. I know I want to be on Whithaugh Park 2006, loads of you guys have already booked to come too, but why? What's so great about it?

What do we know? … It was one week, in a great big patch of trees in the Scottish Borders, wooden lodges; we even make you wash up!!! And you're coming back!

Lots of trees, wooden lodges and no one else…

Just us… and God.

Okay, we did lots of stuff, climbing, canoeing, raft building, shopping, shot at each other (NB only with paint balls and lasers), we painted t-shirts, grilled leaders (not literally, or at least none that I know of), swam, people spoke to us about God, who we discussed everyday in our lodges. We ran around with blindfolds on, carried raw eggs, danced around like crazy people at the disco and at other times we danced just because we realised how awesome God is. And who can forget Taskforce, who were so wonderful we might just treat them to another trip to Ecklefecken.

We all came back in one piece (except Matt Selby, whose lip I trust has now fully healed). Some of us, however, came back more whole than we ever knew possible. That's what was truly awesome about Whithaugh Park 2005, God!!

No amount of gorge walking or double portions of chocolate gateaux can ever compete with getting to know Him. What He does in people's lives is more exciting than 10 million of whatever your favourite thing is (I can't even think of anything that comes close).

A lot of what was talked about by the guys in the evening meetings was to do with living for God, how we do that, and why we do that. I hope and pray that what started for you last Whithaugh Park, you took with you. That it's alive and developing. But wherever you are right now I want you to remember that God is with you. And whatever you might think of yourself, God loves you. And wherever you might be, He wants to bless you. And, to quote one of you from the questionnaires you filled in; with God, "things can only get better in the future".

See you in the summer!
