Taskforce

What is Taskforce?

Taskforce is a training and mentoring program aimed to encourage, equip and enable young people primarily in School Years 12 & 13 (or equivalent) for Christian service and leadership. Taskforce plays a key part with YCYH, as they support our various leadership teams in the Whithaugh Park holidays and RUup4it? events, as well as receiving a separate teaching program. Living the Life weekends are part of the Taskforce program.

Who can apply?

We are looking for young people who:

  • DESIRE to know God more and make Him known, and who wish to:-
    • DEEPEN their relationship with Jesus
    • DISCOVER their gifts and ways to serve God
    • DEVELOP a positive Christian role with leadership responsibilities
    • DISCIPLE others to know God
  • Have the capacity to work as part of a team under leadership and supervision

What do they do?

The roles and responsibilities are normally defined as below, although certain exceptions are made for young people who are too old, but yet are not quite ready for full leadership responsibilities. This is just a general overview, and will depend on gifts and experience.

Junior Taskforce - (School Year 12)

  • Serving and supporting leaders
  • Training - Discussion group, praying, discipleship

Senior Taskforce - (School Year 13)

  • Serving & supporting leaders
  • Being mentored by senior leaders for leadership roles
  • Responsibilities (e.g. PA/technical, worship, admin, drama, leading services etc)
  • Training - Bible study groups, child protection

How do people get involved?

We would love to hear from any young person who has a strong faith in Jesus, and wishes to share their faith with other young people. Before they can become part of this exciting ministry, everyone is required to complete a Taskforce Application Form.

Because the work in Senior Taskforce involves unsupervised contact with children/young people, all those applying, must undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, before their appointment can be confirmed.

For those who want to be involved in Taskforce at Whithaugh 2008 the cost is only £135.00. As places are limited, and to ensure suitability for the role, a selection process including an informal interview will apply. We must recieve all application and reference forms by 1st June 2008. All applicants will be notified the outcome shortly afterwards. Do contact us if you are interested, or would like further information on Taskforce.
