A Look back... |
After 18 months in the planning, last summer 205 people went to
Whithaugh Park (based in the Scottish Borders), including for the
first time 60 people taking part in our 2nd week. Both weeks were
action packed with loads of games, activities, informal meetings
with great teaching, and above all a number of commitments to
Christ. The only difference between the weeks was the weather, with
1st week basking in glorious sun throughout, while the 2nd week had
plenty of cloud and rain!
So once people arrived what actually happened. Well the activities
ranged from; water volleyball, advanced gorge walking, mountain
biking, climbing, basketball, swimming, adventure course, the concert,
craft, drama, late night discussions, kayaking, video clips, ten pin
bowling, archery, laser quest, football, raft building, ultimate,
fencing, morning quiet times, worship, go karting, various workshops,
'hunt the leader' in Carlisle, and for the first time high ropes course
& bridge building. The list could go on and on...
In the evenings we had informal meetings to worship God and learn more
about Him. For some people this was a new experience, whilst for others
it gave the opportunity to repair and deepen their relationship with God.
Each year it is amazing to see young people wanting to have a right
relationship with God, and committing their lives to Him.
The unsung hero's on both weeks were Taskforce (17-18 year olds). A lot
of their time was spent setting up, sorting, cleaning, serving, and
generally supporting the leaders. They also had separate times of study
and discussion based on the book of James.
We are so thankful to God for the amazing team of leaders, who were
committed to serve God in this way. This included a number of Christian
youth workers from across the city. For the team of 61 leaders involved
in Whithaugh Park 2006 it was great to see the young people having a
brilliant holiday, making so many new friends, and experiencing God. We
have so much to thank Him for.

Equipping... Enabling... |
During 2006, we had 25 young people involved in Taskforce at Whithaugh
Park. It has been such a privilege to see these 17-18 year olds
deepening their relationship with God, and being equipped for Christian
service. This work included the RUup4it? events and the Living the Life
weekend at Wydale Hall back in April last year. Plans this year are to
have regular team meetings with Taskforce, giving them greater input in
planning and resourcing the RUup4it? events.

Worship... Teaching... |
These are bi - monthly discipleship events held at Manor School. Over
the year we have seen steady growth with more church youth groups now
attending. We are presently going through a series of teaching on love,
joy, peace, faith & hope. Please pray that RUup4it will be a place
where many young people will continue to experience God through worship
and the teaching of His word.

Lets Pray... |
Thank God for all His faithfulness, provision and guidance for YCYH
throughout 2006. There have been so many answers to prayer, such as: the
Whithaugh Park camps (including the launch of the brand new 2nd week);
continual growth and development of Taskforce and the RUup4it? events;
the team of over 65 dedicated leaders and God's provision through
financial support. Pray for the planning of Whithaugh Park 2007. Now
that we have more places available than ever before, we need his
guiding hand, that a number of new churches and youth groups will come
on board. Pray particularly that as we see God at work in the lives of
many young people through YCYH, we will see them grow and mature in
their faith at their school and local church. Together we need to
commit this work to God in prayer.
