Whithaugh Park 2005

A Look Back

Last summer, we took 98 young people for an action packed holiday to Whithaugh Park, in the delights of the Scottish Borders. so much happened ...superb activites, great teaching, awesome worship, and above all many commitments to Christ. It was truly a great experience to be there, and one that, for many, will never be forgotten.

The best way to give you a flavour would be to run through a typical day at camp!

Each morning the leaders rise early at 8am and have a time of study and prayer together. We then have to shake the campers out of their beds ready for breakfast at 8:50. It was then straight to for a quiet time. This was a great way to start the day looking at the bible and praying for each other.

There was then an huge range of activities to choose from. These included; Abseiling, Canoeing, Raft Building, Archery, Go Karting, Gorge Walking, Mountain Biking and many more. After lunch we had further activites. A couple of days we went to Carlisle for 'Hunt the Leader' & Bowling. There were also plenty of opportunities for swimming, craft, sport and various workshops.

After a busy day, we then tucked into an evening meal prepared by our own cooks! We then had a time fo worship, drama, videos and teaching in our evening meetings. It was very humbling seeing so many young people being prayed for, wanting to have a right relationshiop with God, and committing their lives to Him.

After further activites, and a chance to taset the hot chocolate at supper, there were then opportunities to be involved in discussion, and on one evening a special prayer and worship time. It was then time to crawl into our beds, ready for the following days installments.

It was a truly awewsome week, seeing the campers having a great holiday, making so many new friends, but particularly the way that everyone had such a profound experience of God. We have so much to thank Him for.

Psalm 100 says, "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth......For the Lord is good and his love endures for ever; his faithfulness continues through all the generations"

As we look back at 2005, it has been so amazing to see God's hand upon this ministry. There have been so many amazing answers to prayer, ranging from continued growth in the various works, increased financial support, and becoming a charity (within 4 weeks!). Most imortantly, we have seen so many young people not only making commitments to Christ, but seeing them grow and mature in their faith. Whithaugh Park 2005 was a great testimony to this. Every year God just does so many amazing things there.

The "RUup4it?" events are now firmly established at Manor School, with new groups/churches attending at each bi-monthly event. Recently we launched a brand new youth band.

It has also been such a privilege to see an increasing number of 17-18 year olds involved in our training program (Taskforce), which included a Living the Life weekend at Wydale Hall back in April last year. This year at least siz of them will be leaders at Whithaugh Park for the first time.

Throughout last year we have been praying, seeking God"s wisdom and guidance about setting up a smaller 2nd week at Whithaugh Park. Along with the universal support we received from churches/organisations/individuals, it became clear that this is the direction in which God is leading us. With this in mind we need to rapidly increase our financial support. Gift aid forms are now available, for anybody interested in supporting us.
