Monthly Thought

January 2010

So here we are at the beginning of another year. Did you make any New Year resolutions? Have you still kept them? It's always the time in the year when many people focus on what they want to do, what they want to get out of it, and how they are going to achieve it in the year. So what do you want out of 2010? Image... popularity money... latest tech equipment…success…etc. What's driving you to achieve these things? Everyone of us has so many 'worldly' desires and cravings that we hunger after.

Mark 8:36 says, "What good is it for a person to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" You may be really popular, pass all your exams, have all the latest designer clothes, access to plenty of money. Maybe you think that this is what life is all about. The bible teaches that although by the 'world's' standards you may have some/many of these things going for you, ultimately you will lose your soul, because you have no relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, as He is not the most important person in your life.

Matthew 5:6 says, "Blessed are those who hunger for thirst and righteousness, for they will be filled". What an amazing promise. If we hunger and thirst for Jesus and live by His rules, He will make our lives complete. It's a real challenge, but Jesus calls us to desire and long after Him. When we do this, Jesus will fill us, and give us life in all its fullness. Then will we recognize, understand and experience that we have the most precious friend for life, who will never leave us or forsake us.
