Monthly Thought

June 2008

One of the amazing promises of God in the Bible is that he promises to never ever leave us, wherever we are whatever we are doing. At this time of year some of you will be still doing exams, while others will have finished, and you will have the tricky exam period followed by the holidays. The great thing about God is that he is with us, both in the difficult times and the amazing times in our lives.

Whether we are watching TV, are with our friends, studying, in the exam hall or going through hard times, he is right beside us and knows exactly what is going on in our lives. How amazing that this is the God of the universe! God's presence is everywhere all around us, throughout our lives. This can also be a bit scary as God will also know all the wrong things we think, say and do but this can remind us to apologize and to try not to again. He is faithful, always there for us, even when we are unfaithful to him he will be ready for us to come back to him.

God knows the number of grains of sand on the earth and even knows the number of hairs on our head. This Psalm shows King David's response to this:

You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of your sight. You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you're there, then up ahead and you're there, too- your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful- I can't take it all in! The Message Psalm 139v2-6

Not only is God there with us, he is there actively helping us in whatever we are facing. His power through the Holy Spirit gives us peace, guides us with wisdom in confusing situations and fills us with joy from knowing his love. God can strengthen, protect and carry us, as...

'when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned' (Isaiah 43:2).

He comforts and heals us, gives us dreams and hope. But, we need to ask God for this. I encourage you to ask God to reveal more of himself to you through whatever situations you are in, and to discover more about Gods amazing promises.
