Monthly Thought
May 2006
Not long to camp now ~ woooooo! But for a lot of us the
time between Camp 2006 and now might be filled with all sorts of
challenges - some more bothersome and/or meaningful then others.
There are GCSEs, SATs, 'exams full stop'; course work, challenging
situations, relationships, friendships, jobs, weddings, moving
house, how to fit everything into the time given and making sense
of what's going. Well how about ~ "When the going gets tough, we get
going... to God" - WHAT? Well it isn't the standard proverb of
mankind, but way more effective. Because in some situations, never
mind how tough we are and how well we get going, we may not be able
to impact the situation or make things right or succeed in our own
strength.
First things first: Don't worry - Matthew 6:33
- "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all
these things will be given to you as well."
What kind of stuff does Matthew 6 say we are not to worry about?
Please take time to read up on it: don't worry about life, food,
drink, clothes - God has it all well in control - if we seek first
his kingdom and his righteousness - look to Him, to seek takes
effort on our behalf.
One of my favorite verses of scripture is Isaiah 40:27-31 (as you
may know if you've read the
"Verses
you love" bit on the forum)
it's been on my mind a lot lately, because I've been in the tired
weary place - so here it is again:
'Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way
is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"? Do you
not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the
Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one cans fathom. He gives strength to the
weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired
and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in
the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like
eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be
faint.'
We all get tired and weary and wonder, does God know and
understand what's going on in my life; and then there is the option
of complaining. I love the way it reads "Do you not know? Have you
not heard?" - Hello! - This is the way GOD
is, He is Everlasting, the Creator, He will not grow tired or weary
and His understanding is way beyond what we can understand - how
cool. He is the one to come to when the going gets tough - we place
our hope in him - because He loves us, He cares for us, His strength
is beyond anything we can do by ourselves!
If the going is good, if you are soaring, running or walking and
all is great, rejoice with our wonderful heavenly Father but if the
going is tough - go to God, seek Him, place your hope in Him and be
made strong by Him.
