Leader Profile - Owen Joyce

Ant and Becki Dean

When or where were you born?

24th June 1980, in Farnborough near Orpington in Kent, or is that London; depends how I feel.

How did you get involved with YCYH?

Jimmy McNaughton invited me many years ago in the spring of 2002.

How are you involved with YCYH?

I seem to do a bit of everything, mostly on camp, from leading evening meetings, sports, lodge leading, discussions, last year's camp concert to just providing those who go on camp with excellent company.

How does an average week look for you?

Between the hours of 7:50am till 6pm of a weekday my time is the time owned by 750 glorious, challenging, inspirational, agonizing, frustrating, priceless, exciting and joyful pupils at the school I am a PE Teacher. Weeknights normally involves sports, either participating or spectating, or church stuff. Weekends mostly include extra sleep and sports, and chilling with great friends

What do you do for fun?

Sports, Sports, Sports, some time movies and American dramas on the telly.

Tell us about your last holiday?

I spent 3.5 weeks in New Zealand last year, leaving the day after camp, which was awesome. I stayed with Dan McNaughton (bro of Sam & Jon) and his growing family and did all sorts of stuff. Ask me for more details otherwise you won't ever leave this profile.

What's your most embarrassing moment?

They are too common to work out the most embarrassing

Any special abilities / party tricks / bizarre or amazing achievements?

Not really, I can keep a malteaser in the air by blowing air through my mouth so it floats.

What was the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

'Click' with the funny Adam Sandler, it was ok, made you think. would recommend a watch at least once.

What was the last album you bought?

I Think it was Faithless greatest hits, but I will be looking to buy, instead of permanant borrow from my sister, the last Snow Patrol album, 'Eyes Open'; chasing cars is excellent.

Favourite funny moment?

Well the most recent was seeing my friends' daughter's reaction when she ate some posh mashed potato that had pepper in. she loves potato and was determined to eat it but her facial reactions were extremely funny. If only a video camera was present, I would be £200 quid better off.

Favourite 'meaningful' moment?

Every time god blesses me in an unbelievable way, such as being on camp, becoming christian, answers to prayer.

Anything else you'd like to share / add?

The most recent sports memory was last year being at the Madejski Stadium in Reading when they won the championship and promotion to the premiership with 106 points and 99 goals in February.
