pressures. There are still places available for campers and leaders;
we are still actively seeking 3/4 more female
leaders for Whithaugh 1. If you are interested, please contact
Tim Blackburn. Note that financial support from the special fund
can be made available where necessary.

Living The Life: Recently, a number of 17-18 year olds
involved in Taskforce went on a ‘Living the Life’ weekend at Wydale
Hall. Andrew Sach (Curate - St Helens London), gave some amazing
teaching from the book on Exodus. We are really blessed to have such
mature young people who have a deep relationship with God. This year
Taskforce will again be a key support to the leaders at Whithaugh
Park. They are also involved leading group discussions in RUup4it?

Volunteer Administrator Required Over the last few
years, YCYH has seen an amazing growth in it's holidays, programs and
events. Next year, our work will be expanding to 3 summer holidays for
8-16 year olds, and we urgently require a person who is able to to
commit themselves on a voluntary basis, to provide crucial
administration support for this charitable organisation. The time
required would range between 1 and 2 days a week, dependent on the
time of year. A
job
description outlining the key responsibilities is available
for download. For further details contact Tim Blackburn. (30/11/2007)
YCYH - Junior Camp 2008 Since 2005, when the Scripture
Union 'Invader' camps, based at Thirsk stopped running for 8-11 year
olds (School Years 3-6), there has been an real need to develop a new
residential experience for children of this age in and around the York
area. Now that we have stronger links with churches/youth groups, youth
workers and organisations such as York Schools & Youth Trust (YOYO),
there has been universal support to start a brand new Junior Camp in
the summer of 2008. Over the last few months we having been praying
about this and seeking God's guidance. As a result it has become clear
that this is what He wants, and that the time is right to implement
His plans.
This Junior Camp will take place on our 2nd week at Whithaugh Park,
sharing the same site as our 11-16 holidays. We are thrilled to have
experienced team leaders such as Mick & Sarah Fox (ex Invaders Leaders,
SU Camps), James Simister (St Michael le Belfrey – Children’s
Coordinator) & Dan Finn (YOYO – Primary Schools Worker), who will be
overseeing this junior camp. Exact cost & dates are still to be
confirmed, but we do know it will run for 5-6 days between Saturday 2nd
August - Saturday 9th August 2008. Bookings can be made from 18th
November when our brochures and application forms will become
available.
We are really excited about this new development in our ministry. We
thank God that He has opened a 'new door' for YCYH, enabling more
children & young people to have great fun, build good relationships,
and above all hear the gospel through our ministries. Please continue
to pray that the message that we share about Jesus Christ, will really
impact their lives forever.
If you want to find out more about the YCYH Junior camp, then don't
hesitate to contact Tim on 01904 705004. (13/10/07)
Publicity Team: For a while we have discussed setting
up a small publicity team to advertise the work of YCYH to a far wider
area. With so many people enquiring about YCYH, it has become
clear that we need a small team to network with churches/youth
groups/organisations, encouraging them to be involved. If you have a
real passion to publicise and are willing to communicate our work,
a meeting will be arranged mid September, to share our vision and
strategy. We are hoping to launch this team during October. If you
want any further information or clarification of what this role
would involve, don't hesitate to speak with Tim. (08/08/07)
Whithaugh Park 2007: It was a great success, involving
nearly 150 young people and over 60 leaders across both weeks in the
Scottish Borders. Despite the wet weather on the first week, both weeks
had a wonderful time. Activities included raft building, climbing,
go-karting and then every evening spending time listenning to God.
"Everything was just brilliant!" was just one of the comments from the
young people as they returned back to York. Many churches across the
city were involved, not to mention a significant number of campers from
overseas. It's amazing to see God bless this work, impacting the lives
of so many young people. (07/08/07)
